Donkey Care

Children have enjoyed riding the donkeys on Camp Magruder's many trails, including the beach for more than 50 years. The camp presently has a stable of two donkeys fondly known as Caleb, and Jenny. The veterinarian who has provided care to these animals for many years determined that it was time that they should retire. Appropriate retirement celebrations were enjoyed by each, the highlight of which was a special oatmeal/carrot "cake." Campers may learn about donkey care and help with the care and feeding of the animals both morning and late afternoon. Check with a staff member for specific times.
