Policies & Procedures

Our rules for acceptance and participation are the same for everyone regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, or disability. Anyone with a disability that may require assistance or further information is asked to contact the camp director in advance of their stay. All users of Camp Magruder, regardless of affiliation, are subject to the following expectations. Those who refuse or neglect to observe these rules can have their contract canceled, their deposit forfeited, and be required to leave the premises.

Facility Rental

Lodges and sleeping cabins are rented from 4:00 p.m. on arrival day to 11:00 a.m. on departure day.

Rental includes use of grounds, recreational facilities, and firewood.

There is a charge for additional persons over rented bed capacity.

For day use, including guaranteed use of buildings before 4:00 p.m., there is an additional per person fee.

Bring your own sleeping bag or bedding, and your own towels and toiletries. Cabins and Lodges are furnished with bunk beds.

Groups preparing their own meals (available November - February only) pay an additional kitchen use fee .

Supervision

Groups must have responsible adult staff age 19+ supervising activities and sleeping rooms with these minimum ratios: 1:10 for ages 15-18; 1:8 for ages 9-14; 1:6 for ages 6-8; 1:5 for ages 4-5. Special needs children will require additional staffing.

Prohibitions

The possession or use of alcoholic beverages or illicit drugs is prohibited.

In consideration of other participants and the area's wildlife, pets may not be brought pets to camp.

Firearms, fireworks, flammable liquids, or motorized off road vehicles are not to be brought to camp by campers or volunteer camp staff. Power tools are to be brought and used only with permission of management.

Smoking is prohibited in all buildings and restricted to outside smoking areas.

Fire Safety

Fires will be permitted only in fireplaces, wood stoves, and designated campfire circles.

Beach fires are permitted and must be built on open dry sand at least 50 feet from dune vegetation and accumulated driftwood.

Firewood is provided for groups using the facilities.

Water Safety

Swimming and Boating will be permitted only when a camp lifeguard is on duty.

Dangerous ocean currents dictate that all persons stay out of ocean waters unless supervised by a camp lifeguard. This includes wading. Adults must be present to provide supervision when children are at the beach.

Health Care

User groups are responsible for providing their own nurse/first aid coverage.

Emergency medical care is available in the area.

Food Sanitation

Groups doing their own cooking are responsible for proper food sanitation practices, such as using sanitized utensils, equipment, and counter surfaces; minimizing the time that potentially hazardous foods remain in the temperature danger zone of 40F to 140F; and cleaning all dishes with the wash, rinse, sanitize, and air dry process.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

We encourage a strong conservation ethic, including minimal use of disposable paper and Styrofoam meal service products.

Recycling and composting receptacles are available at each lodge with a kitchen.

Clean Up

Each group is responsible for leaving the facilities clean and in good condition, sweeping, mopping, etc. as posted in buildings. Extra cleaning required of camp staff and repair of any damage will be charged to the group responsible.

Groups are expected to vacate the facilities by the designated checkout time of 11:00 a.m., unless other arrangements have been made in advance.

Copyright Laws

Groups are advised that they are not to copy, project, or otherwise use music in ways contrary to copyright law. No video is to be used for which the group does not have permission or license to do so.

Personal Property

Camp Magruder (Oregon-Idaho Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church) assumes no responsibility for loss of or damage to personal property or automobiles during stays at the camp. Unclaimed items found at camp are kept two weeks before being distributed to a charitable organization.
